Proxmox Support & VMware-to-Proxmox Migration
Proxmox VE is an open-source virtualization platform that runs your servers as virtual machines and containers on your own hardware, with clustering, high availability, and backup built in. We are Proxmox specialists: we migrate businesses off VMware, design and host Proxmox clusters, and manage them day to day so you get enterprise virtualization without the enterprise licensing bill.
Why businesses are leaving VMware
When Broadcom acquired VMware and shifted it to subscription-only bundles, a lot of small and mid-sized businesses opened their renewal quote and found the number had multiplied. If that's you, you don't have to simply pay it. Proxmox delivers the capabilities most businesses actually use from vSphere — live migration, snapshots, clustering, shared storage, and centralized backup — on a platform with no per-socket license fee.
We help you make the decision with clear eyes: not every environment should move, and we'll tell you if yours is better left in place. Where Proxmox fits, the savings and control are substantial.
VMware-to-Proxmox migration
Migration is where most of the risk lives, so it's where we do the most planning. Our process:
- Assess — we inventory every VM, its resources, dependencies, and backup state, and map out networking and storage.
- Design — we spec the target Proxmox cluster (nodes, storage, network) sized to your real workload and growth.
- Migrate — we convert and move virtual disks, adjust drivers where needed, and validate each guest boots, networks, and performs correctly.
- Cut over — we schedule the switch to minimize downtime, keeping the VMware environment intact and reversible until the new platform is proven.
- Verify — backups, monitoring, and high availability are tested before we call it done.
What's included
- Hosted and on-premise Proxmox clusters — deployed in your office, colocated locally, or fully hosted and managed by us
- VMware, Hyper-V, and physical-to-virtual migrations — including disk conversion and guest cleanup
- Shared storage — hyperconverged, software-defined storage with Ceph or LINSTOR (DRBD replication), or ZFS with replication for smaller clusters, sized to your workload
- High availability — automatic VM restart across nodes when hardware fails
- Proxmox Backup Server — deduplicated, incremental, immutable/offsite backups tied to your backup and disaster recovery plan
- Networking — VLANs, bonded and 10GbE links, and firewall integration, often alongside our UniFi networking work
- Monitoring, patching, and 24/7 support as part of managed IT services
Who it's for
Sacramento-region businesses running VMware who are facing a painful renewal, companies that have outgrown a single aging server, and organizations that want enterprise virtualization and real high availability without a virtualization specialist on payroll. It pairs naturally with our cloud and Microsoft 365 work for a hybrid setup, and with IT projects and consulting for hardware refreshes and data-center moves.
Not sure whether Proxmox is right for your environment? A free IT assessment includes an honest look at your current virtualization and licensing, and served from our Sacramento office we can be on-site when the migration calls for it.
